According to new allegations from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a clemency request for consideration by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel announced that a source provided evidence indicating the inmate is preparing the commutation application. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in the Lone Star State.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was “helping” Maxwell with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for clemency.

Specific details of the clemency request are unknown, Raskin added.

Alleged Privileges and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, per the insider, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the warden has “personally arranged” private meetings for her and her visitors.

The visits reportedly involve a designated private space for visitors and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to bring computers, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and chance of unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other prisoners, she was given specific instructions about who she should tell her contacts to contact and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told House Democrats that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she reportedly employed the warden as her private aide.

The statement states that Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the warden, who would provide them to the inmate, for her to examine and change and provide them back to the warden to scan and provide to the original sender.

Additional Privileges Reported

Further perks reportedly provided to Maxwell include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Maxwell’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative added.

Context and Developments

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told friends and family in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the Texas facility than her former location.

In August, she was moved from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the less restrictive prison in the state, where most detainees are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just days after she was interviewed about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also previously served as the President's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing mounting pressure to disclose additional files related to the Epstein investigation and amid intense speculation around the President's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, the congressman also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, demanding answers about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the document. “The government must not offer her with room service, with canine interaction, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that Blanche attend a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

Raskin asked whether he had talked about a potential commutation for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the move or special conditions in prison, and whether she, her attorneys, relatives or agents have made any commitments to the President or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a response to the inquiries by the specified date.

Last month, the nation's highest court rejected an petition from the convict on her trafficking verdict.
